UV blocking swim shirts are not necessary inside the PAC pool. The ceiling and walls have a filter that reduces the exposure to sunlight.
When choosing modesty swimwear please ensure it is tight enough to allow for proper movement in the pool. Modesty swimwear should not be oversized as this can inhibit the properly learning of swim skills and contribute to in water difficulties.
Floaties, water wings, puddle jumpers, lifejackets or other wearable flotation devices are not permitted to be worn during swim lessons.

For durability please look for suits that are poly, PBT or a blend
Lining is often spandex or lycra for comfort.
Lycra & Spandex - $
Does not hold up well in chlorine.
Rinse with cool, fresh water after each use.
Has poor resistance to prolonged sun exposure, so fabric will fade and fray.
Smooth & stretchy.
Less expensive
PBT - $$
Cost-effective and durable.
Chlorine- and heat-resistant.
Great stretch and elasticity, similar to spandex.
Quick-drying and low-water absorbency
Polyester - $$$
Chlorine-resistant and colorfast.
Durable material, even if not cared for properly.
Doesn’t stretch as much as Spandex; holds shape well.
Tighter, a little more difficult to put on for the first time.
Light Bottom Swimming Pool
The PAC swim lessons are primarily taught in pools with a light color bottom.
4 of the 5 pools at the Pocahontas Aquatic Center have light colored bottoms.
The outdoor kiddo pool has a darker bottom that is slip resistant.
